Stay true to your art
Art is a risky endeavour.
It needs the courage to apply a stroke in the hope that it won’t taint the painting.
Writers dare to through words in front of people, to open their hearts and insight into the soul for readers to see.
A singer risks the judgement of spectacle when she strikes the notes.
Despite the risks and vulnerability, artists present.
He shares with open arms the talent he has.
With a sense of belonging to his audience.
It is something that cannot be kept to ourselves. What is born out of us is asked by someone in the crowd.
The allegory of the crowd has changed.
It’s no longer confined to the physical boundaries.
It has broken the fourth wall and reached in the laps of the audience with the internet.
Medium influences how the art is presented.
People who sit in the cinema hall are locked inside. They don’t really have any other option, but to watch what’s running on the screen.
But the same person with a mobile in hand has an option to decide in a split second.
Scroll.

Should artists change with the changing medium?
I often ponder upon what medium I should be using to express myself.
Book or the Laptop, iPad or the Canvas.
No matter how confusing it sounds, it is a wonderful occasion.
It compels the artist to contemplate the nature of his art and the medium it expresses through.
With so many options available, the possibilities of creating and presenting increase.
It might add to the confusion, but it can be an opportunity for someone who might find it difficult with the traditional methods.
It launches new artists in the arena of art.
It might urge a traditional artist to find a whole new dimension to his artistic expression.
And the beauty of the contemplation is that there is no absolute answer.
And there is a pitfall to bending to the whims of the new tools, to change the core of the artist’s message.

Trends on the internet will change.
We might see a phase in the human revolution where the state of the internet might have changed into something new.
Don’t fall prey to the algorithms and change your perspective towards a world that is aligned with your nature.
It ruins the beauty of your work.
I see so many people who follow the trend are in for a short-term game.
They figure out what goes viral and recreate the creation.
It doesn’t have a message so the messenger is not recognised.
The video finds fifteen minutes of fame.
And when the trend changes creators are left with nothing.
When I learned art from my master, she gave me many books to read and practice from.
But she taught me not to copy the artist, but to observe the way he thinks.
Be aware of his thoughts while he is applying the strokes and It will make you aware of the way you think.
Today in the world of AI, we see a render of what has already been said and done.
It is average for everything.
I am not against the technology. It will help aid many who lack the skill of articulation.
But the internet is a tool.
Like a brush, like a chisel, it helps an artist to construct and compose is dynamic expression to manifest into a form that can communicate with others.

The Internet is not a dictation of what you work on.
It is a source for you to be found by the people, not a source to bend your knees to what you have found to be successful.
You are needed, as you are.
What you see out there is already done.
What you are capable of doing, no one else is capable of doing it.
You are not an imitation of what already exists. You are original.
Yes, it gives many opportunities, mediums and dimensions to how you express yourself.
Your nature reflects at the core of everything you express.
Your creation is the reflection of your core.
Adopt the changing landscape of the medium.
Use the technology as a tool. It might as well add a tenor to your voice.
Ornamentation.
But the structure stays aligned to your nature. It might change as well but always aligned to your core. Nature.

This speaks a lot to the evolution of the artist and the art scene in general.
Use every tool possible.
My conclusion to the train of thoughts about using digital media or traditional halted at this station.
Why not both?
There is fun in getting hands dirty.
There is fun in seeing the line appear on the screen when you draw on it with a pencil without a lead. LOL
An artist should be using as many mediums as possible to stumble upon his style.
People didn’t stop walking when cars came into existence.
Cars added to the mode of transport.
You don’t want to be left behind because you failed to adapt to the change.
You don’t want to be left behind because you fell prey to the technology to dilute your message either.
Express the way you are.
Let your being explode to its fullest, expanding and extending your awareness to the world.

We live in a notion that going viral converts the views into patrons.
You might see a surge in subscribers, but that does not necessarily mean that people are genuinely interested in your core message.
If they have come for something shallow haha hehe video, they are less likely to stay for deeper things you have to offer.
Finding the right audience is a long and ongoing process.
It is always better to realise this sooner than later.
It takes time and be ready to spend the time and resources in it.
Instead of wasting it on the fifteen minutes of fame.
∗ ∗ ∗
It takes time, but that doesn’t mean it is not easy or impossible.
The only key you need is consistency.
Be consistent with inspecting the different elements that are already familiar to you.
Your style, your way of being. Nature.
Every art has an audience. Consistency is the bridge between you and your audience.
Have no reservations about what you share.
No one has shared it before doesn’t always mean that it doesn’t have a place in the world.
In fact, it is good news. You have found a gap to fill in.
You fit into the missing part in the world, instead of being the part that is already there in existence.

This understanding makes an artist comfortable.
He now knows what works for him and sooner or later the audience will come to know what parts of your work works for them.
The value they get from your presence in their mind space.
You change together, you come to the point together.
The external circumstances might change – the technology, the trends and the mediums. But you and your audience will stay connected.
As it is not really about the nature of communication. But your own nature itself.
If a social media site shuts down tomorrow, the people who value your work will always find a way to connect with you on another site.
It does not matter where, but all that matters is how.
How to navigate through this change with conviction of your message.
You are not called by a different name when you change your clothes.
What matters is you stand on the stage to connect with your audience, every time you change your clothes.
With the message. Your message.
