India brought home oscars in two categories this year. One for the best original song Natty Nattu and second the foe best short subject documentary for Elephant Whisperer.
This is India's first win in the category to win an Oscar.
The film tells the story about an Orphaned Elephant Raghu, in care of an indigenous couple named Bowman and Bellie.
The documentary explores the loving bond between the baby elephant and the caretakers.
Director Kartiki Gonsalves endorsed the bond between nature and humans in her acceptance speech.
The film was shot in Theppakadu Elephant Camp inside the Mudhumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu, the film follows the couple as they care for Raghu, an injured baby elephant.
The indigenous couple who took care of Raghu belonged to the community of Kattunayakan tribe.
The couple is left heartbroken when Raghu is taken away from them and who was later handed over to handler experienced in adolescent elephants
Many Indians have taken to Twitter to praise the documentary for its heart-warming story.
