As a part of Chronicle Series JR a French artist will show his work in MIAMI. A human connect initiative by the artist initiated in November when he started inviting people of Miami to participate in the project in a special 53 foot long truck converted into his studio.
1000 Miami residents participated in this project and were asked “How do you want to be remembered?” This question might sound casual, but it inspired deep thought and a sense of accountability and resposibility towards community. Many artists, writers, readers, creative people and residents from all walks of life came to the mobile studio and contributed by posing for photographs (In the way they want to be remembered). Many took this opportunity to use mic and tell stories about how they came to Miami, many highlighted the issue that they and the city is currently facing.
JR is going to use this collection of Photographs along with the stories to create a Mural about Miami."The mural aims to create a narrative and highly realistic composition of Miami at this unique moment in time. As the city is known for its vibrant nightlife.” Says the Artist.
Art projects like these bring communities together and give them a space to express. This has proven to work well with many other projects by JR. His work has helped blurring boundaries between nations and healing the crack in war torn countries. His Art projects have empowered voice and narrative across the globe with larger than life sized murals and portraits.
JR and his team are currently looking for an ideal place to exhibit the Mural in Miami. Get more updated on his Twitter.
